Motion Blur & Exposure

On a moving line the exposure that matters is the one that keeps the part inside a pixel. This is the calculation that decides whether you need a strobe or a shutter — and it is usually the reason a vision system that worked on the bench fails on the conveyor.

Shorter exposure needs more light — that is the trade, and it is why line-scan and strobed setups exist. A strobe also freezes motion without asking the sensor for an impossible shutter.
