Retaining-Ring Groove
A retaining ring (circlip) sits in a groove and takes axial thrust. Two things can fail: the groove wall can shear/yield (a function of the retained material) or the ring itself can shear. The lower of the two is the allowable thrust. Dims in mm, strengths in MPa.
