Sling Angle & WLL

The sling angle is what catches people out: legs at 30° from horizontal carry double the tension of a vertical lift. Leg tension is T = W / (n · sinθ) — never rig below 30°.

Rigging is life-safety work: follow ASME B30.9 and your site plan, use certified hardware, and never rely on a calculator alone. Shock loading can multiply these figures several times over.
